Our mission for the youth is to give support to those who have severe emotional disorders and co-occuring diagnoses; to expand the resources provided to them, so they are able to expand as themselves in their community and their lives.
The youth are in control of their support meetings. We have decided to come up with a new name for ourselves, which is "Youth Standing Tall!" or Y.S.T. The parents are leaving all of the big decisions up to us. Family Bridges wants the kids to have in say in the decisions that affect them, so now the kids choose what they want at the support meetings. The meetings are themed from Character Education and the Word of the Month.
Another project we are trying to increase is the attendance of the youth at the ACT and RPT meetings. The outcome of these meetings greatly affect the youth so we would like to hear the youths' voice on the matters discussed.
Our main goal for youth in the future is to be more independent- to be able to choose what they want and go get it! We will do everything in our power to help them succeed.
- Recognize our strengths
- Manage our diagnosis
- Build on our talents
- Encourage our recovery
- Celebrate our success
